Shared Socioeconomic Pathways
Emissions Gap Report 2019 published by the UN Environment Programme defines Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) as: ‘Scenarios of projected socioeconomic global changes up to 2100. They are used to derive greenhouse gas emissions scenarios associated with different climate policies scenarios.’
Resource Efficiency and Climate Change, Material Efficiency Strategies for a Low-Carbon Future, published by the UN Environment Programme in 2020, defines shared socioeconomic pathways (SSP) as: ‘Narratives and socioeconomic scenarios used by modellers to develop global energy and GHG (greenhouse gas) emissions scenarios.’
